World consumed more food than it produced in 4 out of the last 5 years

The Head of Agriculture in the World Bank, Dr Juergen Voegele visited Dairymaster this week while on a whirlwind tour to Ireland to learn first-hand what innovations the company is currently working on and to meet Dr Edmond Harty CEO.

Because of this there is a huge need for innovation in agriculture and the need to focus on how we can get more food from less resources. Dr Voegele was shown the research and development carried out by Dairymaster to achieve this. Dr Harty explained that Dairymaster apply technology and innovation in everything they do in order to make better products that can change the lives of its customers. For example Dairymaster milking systems milk cows in a more natural way, quicker, with up to 5% more yield and better udder health. The MooMonitor which is a necklace for monitoring cows’ health and fertility was of particular interest. Dr Harty explained how this can completely revolutionise productivity on farms as MooMonitor allows the cow to follow her natural cycle resulting in more calves and healthier cows who can perform at their peak levels. Dairymaster milk cooling tanks keeps the milk in tip-top quality using less energy. By combining the innovations that Dairymaster bring it increases the output of food we get.

The aim of the World Bank is working for a world free of poverty. Dr Voegele is speaking at the ASA conference in Dublin later this week but specifically requested a visit to the Dairymaster Headquarters as he is hugely interested in seeing innovation in agriculture.

Dairymaster is an Irish Company that has become a world leader in dairy equipment manufacturing. Based in Causeway Co. Kerry it also has operations in the UK and USA and customers in over 40 countries worldwide.
