One of the most senior executives of McDonald’s has waded into the debate over Britain’s membership of the EU.

Jill McDonald, who as the fast food giant’s North West division president looks after Germany, Luxembourg, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Ireland and the UK, warned British jobs would be at risk if it pulled out of the EU.

Forty years after the first McDonald’s opened in Woolwich, south London, McDonald told the Mail: ‘There are distinct benefits from being part of the EU. I would be concerned there would be an impact on British jobs directly as a result of pulling out of the EU.’
